I n t r o d u c t i o n Since 1990 the Cambridge Project for the Book Trust (CPBT) has supported seminar series, academic and public conferences, and four major collaborative bibliographical projects, and has funded public lectures and research visits by overseas scholars. The trust has raised over one million pounds to support studentships and bibliographical research. Listed with the Cambridge University Development Office, it is a recognised educational trust, with past and present support from colleges at both the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. The CPBT has been the recipient of major grants from the Leverhulme Trust, the British Academy, the British Council in Germany, and individual benefactors. The Trust is committed to expand and develop both bibliographical scholarship and public interest in the History of the Book The Director of the Trust, Prof. James Raven has pioneered the study of book history.
